Train travellers get more headaches
3 January 2008
On Thursday, Network Rail stated that a huge number of travellers will have to go through another day that is full of delays, due to ongoing engineering work that is running late within the Midlands.
According to the company that is working on rail infrastructure, the ongoing work at the busy West Coast Main line had been scheduled for completion by the time that New Year’s Day will come. But now, this project should be complete as early as Friday.
The rail infrastructure company stated that it has brought in extra manpower that was gathered throughout the nation in order for the project to be finished. It put emphasis on the fact that they are working non-stop to get everything back to operational status as soon as it is possible.
The rail infrastructure company blamed the postponements on a lack of expert employees that were required to rebuild the overhead electrification of the line.
On Thursday, Virgin Trains, a company that does their operations on the line, warned the passengers against using their routes. It anticipates the line to open again by Friday.
Virgin Trains CEO Tony Collins stated that their customers should deserve and expect better service and that this situation has turned into a fiasco for them. The company has to make certain that the incidents that have occurred during the past few days will not happen again.
He added that the travellers that have a ticket for the schedule of Thursday can book again for another day during the following week or have all their money refunded.
