Railroad Jerk
This is an indie-rock group formed based in New York in USA. The band was formed in 1990 and specialises in punk blue .The band’s line-up changed on several occasions but some of the steady members in the team include vocalist and guitarist Marcellus Hall, bassist Tony Lee.Hall and Tony met in 1989 in Trenton in New Jersey.They decided to form a band and included Jez Aspinall to play the drums and Chris Mueller as the second guitarist in the group. The band became very popular in Manhattan music scene and earned a record deal from
Matador Record.The band recorded 4 albums for the label. All of the four albums gained high critical appreciation. The group disbanded in late 90s.The band released their album "Railroad Jerk" in 1990.This was followed by release of "Raise the Plow" in 1993.The band never attained mainstream success but their album “Railroad Jerk” played a major role in influencing the alternative rock scene of that era. The band achieved its biggest success with the release of "One Track Mind" from the album Railroad Jerk in 1995.The band members Dave Varenka, Alec Stephen, Tony Lee and Marcellus Hall spread the RRJ music in Japan, Europe and America.RRJ’s “The Ballad of Railroad Jerk"became a popular college radio song. The band issued their third album “The Third Rail” in 1996.The band started touring extensively during this period. Their next venture entitled "Masterpiecemeal” was their fifth LP.This final recording has not been issued till date but a bootleg version has gained immense popularity and claims to be the best record created by the band. |
